Unleash the Power of Parallel Computing

Tackle large-scale problems with the power of parallel computing. Engineers, scientists, and analysts will find Parallel Computing Toolkit ideal for product design and problem solving. Educators can use this package in classrooms and labs to quickly convey and explore the concepts of parallel computing.

Parallel Computing Toolkit brings parallel computation to anyone with access to more than one processor, regardless of whether the processors are multiprocessor machines, networked PCs, or a Top 500 supercomputer.

This package implements many programming primitives for writing and controlling parallel Mathematica programs as well as high-level commands for common parallel operations. Programs written using Parallel Computing Toolkit are platform independent and can run on any computer for which Mathematica is available.

Parallel Computing Toolkit is also a major component of gridMathematica and Mathematica Personal Grid Edition.

About the Developer

Roman Maeder, the developer of Parallel Computing Toolkit, is one of the designers of Mathematica and the author of several books on Mathematica-related topics, including the standard reference Programming in Mathematica. He received his Ph.D. from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zürich).

Licensing Information

Parallel Computing Toolkit needs a licensed Mathematica kernel for each process.

Parallel Computing Toolkit 2.1 requires Mathematica 6* and is available for all Mathematica platforms. Effective use of Parallel Computing Toolkit requires at least three available Mathematica processes. One process is for the master control, and two are for slave processes. With more processes (and matching processors) you can run a more parallel program.

*Version 5.2 remote kernels are also supported.
