WMOSS
Mössbauer Spectral Analysis Software
WMOSS is a tool specifically made for the analysis of Mössbauer spectra. It enables multiple spectra to be read in and analyzed with operations such as Line Subtraction, Spectrum Subtraction, Theoretical Simulations, Least Squares Fitting and many others included in the package. Its design began back in the early 1990's and was developed using Fortran and INTERACTER under DOS.
A conversion to a Delphi front-end was flirted with in the late 1990's, but there was not a large enough market to justify conclusion of the project so it was shelved. The DOS version has since been moved into the Public Domain, but with renewed demand for a Windows version, Tom Kent from WEB Research Co. in Edina, USA contracted Polyhedron to do the conversion.
The first phase of the project has now been completed and has begun to be released to the sponsors. The application has remained 100% Fortran and was developed using Intel Fortran and Microsoft's Visual Studio 2005 providing a stable platform for easy development and debugging. All window controls and graphics use the Winteracter library, and the new version incorporates Polyhedron's licence management utility PLS to handle licensing and limit access to certain program functionality while in demonstration mode. The whole installation package has been wrapped up using Inno-Setup, the free installation packaging software from jrsoftware.org.
